Chronic disease, Aging and Longevity: Day to Day Clinician Approach

Much of the focus of our private clinic is on health optimization and longevity. Given my background in functional medicine, prevention, and primary care we are facing a crisis of chronic diseases. The commonality to almost all the most prevalent chronic diseases is aging. We will focus in this talk on identifying the 4 most common chronic disease states, show evidence on how aging is the common denominator, and also discuss research and steps to stay ahead of the risks for these issues. We will also discuss how we implement health coaching as a successful tool to assist our clients accomplish their goals. Audience will get an overview of the different chronic conditions commonly addressed in functional clinic, aging definitions from inflammaging to healthspan to extrinsic and intrinsic factors that affect aging. They will get a full breakdown of the 4 most common chronic diseases associated with aging (as Dr Peter Attia terms them “the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse”)—CVD, DM, neurodegenerative, and cancers. We will explore the research in these. Will also focus on CVD and women specifically. Then we will discuss steps to be more proactive with prevention and identification—testing that is available and nutrition, sleep, stress, etc changes to help. Will discuss how to implement more effective coaching and guidance for patients as well. Lastly discuss some supplement (no brands) that have data associated with improving health and perhaps slowing aging. As a physician with 20 years of seeing clients and patients in the preventative and functional arenas I will bring insight and fresh approach for audience to implement on Monday morning.
