It is my great pleasure to introduce our next panelist for Ultra-Luxury Hospitality: Redefining Health, Wealth and The Guest Experience — Piers Schmidt.
Described by Management Today as “one of the consultancy world’s thinkers,” Piers brings more than three decades of experience advising C-suite leadership at blue-chip and mid-cap organisations across the globe . He is widely regarded as one of the most respected voices in luxury advisory, with a practice focused on travel, tourism, hospitality and wellness.
A graduate of Cambridge, Piers began his career at Charles Barker and Interbrand, where he led major transformational rebrandings for global icons including Barclays Bank, Selfridges and British Airways, and created the oneworld brand for its landmark alliance with American Airlines
In 2002, he founded Luxury Partners, through which he developed the corporate brand for Kerzner International and masterminded the conceptualisation and $16 million global roll-out of One&Only Resorts
He was engaged by Giorgio Armani to translate the Armani brand into hospitality, and by the Brunei Investment Agency to establish the Dorchester Collection as a soft brand for its prestigious global hotel portfolio
His advisory work spans an extraordinary roster of global luxury names, and between 2021 and 2024 he served on the Group Advisory Board of Red Sea Global, the visionary developer behind THE RED SEA and AMAALA — two of Saudi Arabia’s flagship regenerative tourism destinations
Beyond his advisory work, Piers is an adjunct professor at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, lectures at leading institutions including Cornell, and is currently writing Post-Brand: Why Branding Ate Itself, a provocative exploration of what power looks like in the age beyond traditional branding
