Start in Your Own Backyard

It is my honor to introduce a true pioneer in the field of community wellness and regenerative living, Steve Nygren.

Steve is the Founder and Managing Partner of Serenbe, a nationally recognized wellness community created as a living laboratory to prove that preserving green space thoughtfully integrated with agriculture, housing, and retail — is not only economically viable, but essential to long-term human wellbeing. His work challenges us to rethink how our built environments influence our healthspan, resilience, and quality of life.

As a serial hospitality entrepreneur and Partner at Nygren Placemaking, Steve has spent decades reimagining development through the lens of sustainability and human connection. He led the creation of the Chattahoochee Hill Country Alliance, uniting landowners, developers, and conservationists around a historic land use plan that preserved 70% of 40,000 acres outside Atlanta while increasing housing yield beyond traditional suburban sprawl. It stands as a landmark example of balanced growth and environmental stewardship.

Last fall, Steve released his first book, Start in Your Own Backyard, the inspiration for today’s talk. In it, he explores how small, intentional changes beginning at home and within our communities, can create profound ripple effects on our holistic wellbeing. His message aligns beautifully with the mission of Longevity Medicine: that sustainable health begins not only in the clinic, but in the environments we create and inhabit every day.

His leadership has earned numerous honors, including the 2025 MLK Jr. Beloved Community Environmental Justice Award, the Global Wellness Institute’s Leader in Innovation Award, Southface’s Argon Award, and recognition from the Urban Land Institute and the Atlanta Regional Commission. He was also named Georgia Trend’s Most Respected Business Leader.

Today, Steve invites us to consider that longevity is not just a biological pursuit, it is a design challenge, a community commitment, and a personal responsibility.

Please join me in welcoming Steve Nygren at the Longevity Med Summit 2026 in London.
